Alan Taylor's Railway Photo Galleries |

Hello and welcome to my Photo
Galleries. I live in Fleetwood, Lancashire, and have been taking railway photographs since 1959, when I was
given a Kodak Brownie 127 to take with me on holiday to Devon. I still
have it, and in it's original case! I took my first pictures at
Goodrington on what is now the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway.
About 1963 my grandfather gave me his Zeiss Ikon folding camera which he
no longer used. The results were far better technically, even if not
aesthetically. But, only taking 8 frames on one roll of 120 size film,
it was quite expensive to run. So in 1966, and being on a tight budget
(or maybe just tight), I bought a cheap 35mm camera, fatal!. Although I
got the odd decent photo, most of them were appalling, so just before
the end of steam in 1968, I reverted to the Zeiss. This camera had to be
withdrawn the following year with woodworm in the bellows!. I sold it to
a collector for £1. Now I watch "Flog it" on TV and shudder.
A second hand Yashica 35mm saw me through to 1976 when it was exchanged
for a new one. Both were excellent. I now have a Nikon F50 35mm and also
a Canon digital. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed taking
them.
